2024 – THE BEGINNING OF A NEW DECADE!

The 11th Annual Junior Premier Outdoor League (JPOL) came to a close on Sunday, June 9th with the crowning of Champions in Region 5, 6, 7, as well as JPOL Elite. JPOL Regions 4, 8 and U14 Combined Championships were held the weekend of June 1 & 2.

This year, JPOL saw an increase in scheduling conflicts and availability of a steadfast venue in region 7 where a new league was formed. There were also a fewer number of university AstroTurfs available in some other regions due to the fact that many hockey facilities were being replaced and/or upgraded. We are excited to see the new and improved facilities and hope to be back next year!

Much appreciation to the universities and private institutions who granted access and use of their facilities this year. JPOL will continue to build upon and develop strong working and supportive relationships with venues that continue to make facilities affordable and accessible to youth club hockey.

While playing in a format mirroring that of NCAA and FIH Hockey, JPOL U16/19 Elite continues to showcase top level youth hockey as well as some top young Officials.

The goal of JPOL Elite is to create stronger competition across all Regions and to make players, coaches, officials and spectators more familiar with the NCAA and FIH formats of 15 minutes quarters with clock stoppages, thus creating an easier transition to the next level of competition as participants move to the next stage in their promising hockey careers.

Over the course of the spring season the benefits of participation were evident across all regions. Improvements in the quality of performance was seen across the board at the various Championships which reflected the commitment of the players, parents, coaches, umpires, technical officials and many others.

We are a new club and this was our club’s first year competing in JPOL and appreciated the clear communication and professionalism from the leadership team. The organization on game day, staffing has been outstanding as well. We look forward to participating in 2025.” Stateline FH, MD

At this time, let’s pause to recognize and celebrate all the victors and show our appreciation to all participants, officials, supporters, volunteers and sponsors.

The continued success of this League would not be possible without the support of many who tirelessly give of their time and experience. Much appreciation to the Club Directors, Coaches, and their membership who join us each spring to make this league possible. Many thanks to the Umpire Managers (UMs), Technical Delegates (TDs) and their staff of dedicated Technical Officers (TO) and Umpires. You all give so much of you time and talent to be part of this event and its continued successes.

Much appreciation to our Site Coordinators who stepped forward to make sure the Officials and Volunteer staff are nourished and hydrated at each venue. The Video Operators who did a great job capturing the moments and making them available on our YouTube Channel, and last but not least our Athletic Trainers (ATC) and Physiotherapists who were ever and always present to attend to any and all injuries sustained on and off the field. These individuals perform a key role in making the JPH events pleasurable and enjoyable in a safe environment for all.

Special thanks and appreciation to the volunteer parent Judges from each Club who stepped up each week to give a helping hand at the Technical Table, making sure that the results, game clock and statistics were correct. We thank you for your service and hope you enjoy the front row seat!

To our dedicated JPH Directors who put in countless volunteer hours behind the scenes which allows JPH to continue to plan and organize these events. Thank you all for continuing to Grow the Game!

A shout out to those Collegiate Coaches who took the time to attend the numerous competitions in each region and to show their continued support. It is always a pleasure to see coaches in attendance showing your support for this event and hope you will continue to attend and recruit at all of JPH events. We believe that this is a perfect arena for recruiting and in most cases only a short drive away.

Special recognition to our major sponsor Rothman Orthopedics, Apparel Sponsor and Harrow Sports USA, Official Individual Awards Sponsor. Thank you for your continued support!

To USA FH and Staff who we worked with closely throughout the year, we appreciate the continued support shown in working together for the good of the sport and the wider USA FH membership. We thank you and look forward to continuing to build and strengthen our relationship as a USA FH Sanctioned event that benefits the membership and at the same time helping to Grow the Game by providing regional opportunities for Players, Coaches, Umpires, Umpire Managers and Technical Officials.

And now we recognize and congratulate the 2024 Champions and Special Award recipients from each of the participating Regions, Elite and U14 combined, for an outstanding performance.

2023 JPOL – THE START OF A NEW DECADE!

The 10th Annual Junior Premier Outdoor League (JPOL) came to a close on Sunday, June 11th with the crowning of our Champions in Region 5, 6, and 7, as well as, our U14 Combine and JPOL Elite. Our Region 4 and 8 Championships were crowned last weekend, June 3 & 4.

New this year is the U16 JPOL Elite. Just like the U19 JPOL Elite that took flight in 2022, these events were created to showcase some of the top youth clubs in the US, while playing in a format mirroring that of NCAA / FIH Hockey. All games are played on water-based turf, with time stoppage for every goal, short corner, injury, etc.

The goal of the JPOL Elite is to create stronger competition across all regions and to make players, coaches, officials, and spectators more familiar with the NCAA format thus creating an easier transition to the next level of competition in their young and promising hockey careers.

Over the course of the spring season the benefits of participation can be attested across all regions. Improvements in the quality of performance from the first weekend in April to the various Championships are commendable and reflects the commitment of the players, parents, coaches, umpires, technical staff, and many others.

“This was our club’s first year competing in JPOL. We have appreciated the communication and professionalism from the leadership team. The organization on game day, staffing has been outstanding, as well. Scheduling wise, we’ve appreciated having games closely spaced together.” Next Level, MD

Congratulations to the 2023 JPOL Champions!

A decade passed highlighted with Challenges, Choices, and Competition!

Over 80+ Clubs will participate in the 10th Annual Junior Premier Hockey (JPOL) in three age divisions (U-14, U-16, U-19) representing five regions as well as our U16 and U19 Elite.

Competitions kicked off with the U16 JPOL Elite on Sunday, April 16 at Temple University!

As we move into our eleventh year of existence, we would like to highlight the three C’s that Clubs, their Membership, and Junior Premier Hockey (JPH) have had to navigate over the past 10 years in order to make Junior Premier Outdoor League (JPOL) a continued success.

Challenges: Busy spring schedules full of Nexus, RCC, High School sports, proms, and graduations that Clubs and their members must manage in order to participate in JPOL each season.

Choices: Clubs and their membership must organize and prioritize in order to maximize their efforts and provide the greatest amount of benefit for their athletes, which includes participating in JPOL each spring.

Competition: Properly preparing for the competition to fight for the JPOL Championship every year!

This year is no different and thankfully with the continued support of Clubs, parents, and their membership, we look forward to another successful year!

The vision started in 2013 with just one competition in Region 6 and continues to grow each year. This year’s expansion welcomes the inauguration of JPOL U16 Elite.

JPOL Elite was created out of discussions with clubs regarding their desire to play against the best competition and on water-based turf for a smoother transition to the NCAA format of play. Participation in JPOL Elite is invitation only. Each year, three spots become available in each of the U16 and U19 Division. All JPOL participating Clubs have the opportunity to earn one of those prestigious and well sought-after invitations, based on performance in their respective regions at both Junior Premier Hockey and USA Field Hockey qualifying events.

Each region’s JPOL league is played annually during the Spring, starting in April and ending no later than the second weekend in June. Participation is open to all USA FH member youth clubs and all are encouraged to participate in any of the three age divisions offered (U-14, U-16 and U19). JPH also continues to offer playing opportunities to our northern neighbors in Canada and look forward to welcoming them again in Region 4 this year.

With tremendous interest and support, JPH continues to host a U14 combined league that brings together clubs from Region 3 through 7 to compete over four competition dates. Region 8 continues to support its own U14 Division, competing over two full weekends at River City, Richmond and the Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach.

JPOL is a USA Field Hockey Sanctioned Event. Participation in JPOL provides athletes and coaches with an organized level of competition on a regular basis, that helps prepare them and their Club for success at RCC, NCC, National Hockey Festival, and other domestic competition.

Please subscribe to our YouTube where we will be posting many of this season’s matches.

In order to continue to Grow the Game, a key component that is often overlooked are the Officials. JPH events (JPOL & JPIL) are staffed with dedicated tournament officials (Umpires, Technical Officials and Site Coordinators) recruited from each region, who are sometimes entering hockey for their first time in a role other than an athlete or spectator. All JPH tournaments officials are developed and supported by highly experienced officials so they too can become key players in growing the game.

JPH continues its search for a Title Sponsor for this Junior Premier Outdoor League (JPOL), as well, as the Junior Premier Indoor League (JPIL), and hoping that some generous individual or company will come forward and support one or both of these great youth programs.

A special Thanks to our Sponsors: Rothman Orthopedics, Harrow Sports and Exeter Foot & Ankle Center. Please make sure to thank these Sponsors and support them for all your Orthopedic and Field Hockey needs. Information on Sponsorship and support can be found on here >.

Should you or your Club be interested in participating in future JPH events (JPOL or JPIL) or need additional information about this year’s event, Contact Us.

We invite you to join us and hope to see you at one or many of the regions.

Good Luck to all participants!

Make sure you tag us on social media: @JrPremierHockey #JPOL #JPH

Thank you all for your continued support and we look forward to reaching our next milestone in ten years!
